Role Purpose

The VP Operations is responsible for the end-to-end operational performance of the airline, with full accountability for the safe, reliable, and cost-efficient delivery of all operational activities. The role represents a critical leadership position in the organization, bringing together flight operations, ground operations, inflight services, engineering and maintenance, and customer-facing operational functions into a single, integrated operating model.

The VP Operations will play a central role in stabilizing and improving current operational performance while building a scalable and disciplined operating platform capable of supporting future growth. This includes addressing current operational inefficiencies, improving utilization across aircraft and crew, and ensuring that customer experience is consistently delivered at the required standard.

Scope of Responsibilities

The VP Operations has full responsibility for all operational functions, including flight operations, ground services, inflight services, and engineering and maintenance. In addition, the role incorporates responsibility for customer-related operational delivery, ensuring that customer experience is embedded within operational execution rather than managed as a separate function.

The role requires the integration of previously separate operational areas into a unified structure with clear accountability and consistent standards. This includes establishing common processes, performance metrics, and governance frameworks across all operational units.

A key element of this role is the integration of customer-related functions and engineering and maintenance into the operational structure. This reflects the need to align technical performance, operational delivery, and customer experience into a single, coherent operating model.

From a customer perspective, the VP Operations must ensure that service delivery is consistent, reliable, and aligned with the airline’s value proposition.

From an engineering perspective, the role requires close alignment between maintenance planning and operational scheduling to maximize aircraft availability and utilization.

The person is responsible for ensuring financial optimization to deliver improved CASK, Operations performance, Safety, compliance and delivery of a strong value proposition to customers.

Safety, Compliance and Aviation Security

While direct accountability for safety, compliance, and aviation security remains within their respective functions, the VP Operations has a critical role in ensuring that these areas are fully embedded within operational execution.

The VP Operations will work in close coordination with Safety, Compliance, and Aviation Security functions, effectively operating in a strong dotted-line relationship.

Key Challenges in the Role

The VP Operations will operate in a complex environment characterized by both structural and temporary constraints. The ongoing impact of Pratt & Whitney engine-related groundings creates significant challenges in terms of fleet availability, scheduling, and utilization.

In parallel, the role involves managing a significant organizational transformation, integrating multiple operational functions into a single structure.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured through sustained improvements in operational reliability, including on-time performance and completion rates, as well as measurable increases in aircraft and crew utilization.

Profile and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in airline operations, with a strong track record in managing complex, multi-functional operational environments preferably in a low cost airline.

Key Working Relationships

The VP Operations will be a part of FlyArystan senior leadership team reporting to the companies President and CEO. They will work closely with Commercial, Finance, and maintain strong relationships with Safety, Compliance, and Aviation Security functions.
